Dato’ Dr. Sharifah Fauziah Alhabshi
Dato’ Dr. Sharifah is a distinguished Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Global Doctors Hospital, Mont’ Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, with over four decades of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery. She was the first lady Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in the Ministry of Health Malaysia, where she served for 25 years, pioneering modern techniques in trauma reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, and implantology.
A graduate of the University of Malaya, she is a Fellow and Member of several prestigious institutions, including the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians of Glasgow, the International College of Dentists, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, the International Team for Implantology (as Senior Fellow), the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Academy of Osteointegration and International Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Her career in implantology began in early 1990s with training in Gothenburg, Sweden, and there after she was instrumental in introducing implantology into Malaysia’s public healthcare system for oral rehabilitation in trauma and tumor patients. She has since received advanced implantology training in Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States, including Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Beyond clinical practice, Dato’ Dr. Sharifah has contributed extensively to academia as an invited lecturer at major Malaysian universities and as a speaker at numerous regional and international congresses. She has also served as Organising Chair for many high-level conferences under the Malaysian Dental Association, the Malaysian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, IT Southeast Asia, and the Asian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
She is the Founding President of the Malaysian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, former President of the Asian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Malaysian Dental Association, and Founding President of the IT Southeast Asia Section. Currently, she serves as Chairman of the Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Implantologists (AOMI Malaysia).
Her lifelong dedication to advancing excellence in implantology, education, and holistic patient care has established her as a prominent advocate in shaping the practice of implantology field across Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Syahir Hassan
Dr. Syahir Hassan is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Hospital Ampang, Ministry of Health Malaysia, with extensive expertise spanning dentoalveolar surgery, cleft and craniofacial surgery, maxillofacial trauma, head and neck oncology, and maxillofacial prosthesis. A graduate of the University of Malaya (BDS, MClindent in OMFS), he is recognized
for his pioneering work in digital surgical planning, 3D printing, biomodelling, and template-guided surgery, advancing modern approaches to implantology and reconstructive procedures.
With more than a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Syahir has successfully performed over 500 implant procedures, including complex grafting, zygomatic implants, and full-arch rehabilitations. His expertise in autogenous bone grafting and guided bone regeneration has established him as a trusted authority in complex implant cases, particularly “jaw-in-a-day” reconstructions post tumor resection.
Dr. Syahir is also an accomplished academic and researcher, with publications in international journals such as the Journal of 3D Printing in Medicine, Journal of Global Oncology, and the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has been an invited speaker at national and international congresses, delivering lectures and workshops on topics such as digital workflow mastery, guided implant surgery, craniofacial reconstruction, and cleft management.
His leadership extends to professional bodies, serving as a Fellow of the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS), Committee Member of the Malaysian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (MAOMS), and Core Member of the Global Academy of Osseointegration (GAO). He also provides consultation and virtual surgical planning support to major hospitals across Malaysia, strengthening national capacity in advanced maxillofacial and
implantology care.
